James Turrell

One of the main contributors to the “Light and Space Movement”, James Turrell’s work deals with just that. He is mostly interested in perception, with his intention to bring the viewer aware of themselves seeing. Basic shapes and colors are projected or cut out in many of his work in simplistic ways to bring attention to the light, color, and dimensions of the space the works are in or create. Skyspaces, projections, and constructing naturalistic spaces are major components of his work.
